Let’s start at the very beginning: within the Accor hotel chain’s ibis brand, the “Styles” name identifies hotels that embody an independent style, a unique atmosphere, and a special design world. In Debrecen, all of this is built around the theme of aviation.
As you enter the lobby, your eyes are instantly drawn to the model airplane suspended above the reception desk and the bar, while the aviation theme subtly weaves through the techno-loft style communal spaces. With light strips reminiscent of runways, the colors and shapes are simultaneously modern and playful. As a result, the hotel’s interior can definitely be described as highly “Insta-friendly.”
The four-story hotel welcomes guests with 88 rooms: alongside 72 modern hotel rooms, 16 spacious apartments have also been integrated into the building. The room layouts are clean yet cozy, and the interior—furnished with shades of blue, wooden surfaces, and stylish details—creates a pleasantly calm atmosphere. The design of the bathrooms deserves special mention, as the deep blue tiles mixed with white and the modern black accessories evoke the ambiance of a true boutique hotel.
The unique character of the establishment is further enhanced by the fact that numerous artworks were created in cooperation with the Kós Károly Art and Craft Vocational School of Debrecen. Thanks to this, the international brand has been enriched with local connections and a distinct Debrecen personality.
The hotel is an ideal choice not only for those jetting off into the world from Debrecen International Airport, but also for tourists and business travelers arriving to explore the Cívisváros (Civic City) or called to Debrecen by work. The private parking, electric vehicle chargers, and easy accessibility make the hotel particularly practical for those arriving by car who head into the city center or its outer areas each morning. While the city center is easily accessible, the proximity to business parks and industrial development zones means the ibis Styles Debrecen Airport offers an even more advantageous location than a downtown hotel.
For those staying for several days, it is especially worth choosing one of the apartments equipped with kitchen furniture and appliances. In these suites, guests can truly feel at home: the practical layout, the equipped kitchen, and the comfortable spaces provide a highly livable environment even for longer stays.
The hotel’s restaurant is the Runway Restaurant, stylishly named after the airstrip and spearheaded by Chef László Szabó. While we rarely expect memorable gastronomic experiences from airport hotel restaurants, the situation here is pleasantly different.
The rich breakfast selection features ingredients from local producers, while the daytime menu combines Hungarian classics and international dishes with a modern approach. It is no coincidence that the Great Plain beef goulash and the Wiener schnitzel—served with an exceptionally well-executed potato puree and ice-cold fermented cucumbers—go far beyond the basic standard. They can be confidently recommended even to connoisseurs arriving with a refined culinary palate. Not to mention, all of this appears on the menu at a highly friendly price compared to Budapest restaurants.
Moreover, the Runway Restaurant is equally suited for business lunches, evening dinners, or relaxing after a long journey. The meeting room located right next to it offers a well-equipped venue for corporate events and private functions.
he birth of the hotel, which is the result of a collaboration between the XANGA Group and Accor, does not just mean a new hotel for Debrecen; it has also created a completely new business and tourism segment. As István Herdon, CEO of XANGA Ventures, put it: this hotel, belonging to a three-star superior international hotel brand, is a gap-filling development that further strengthens the business environment of Debrecen International Airport and the city’s role as a regional gateway.
In this spirit, the ibis Styles Debrecen Airport manages to be a stylish design hotel, a practical business base, and a comfortable airport accommodation all at the same time.
